IBM has announced their plan to acquire FilesX which has products for Continuous Data Protection (CDP) IBM's current Tivoli Continuous Data Protection offering is more focused to Laptop and Workstation CDP needs. Tivoli Continuous Data Protection is like an airbag in a car, every laptop at least should have it. Finnish Open Source Electric Car 2.0 Project Sähköautot.fi has received an order for 300 Electric Cars from Norwegian company Enviro Elbilsalg which will also provide funding for building the prototype. Prototype will be based on Toyota Corolla Platform. General idea is to take used car and rip off the gasoline engine and replace it with electric motor and lithium batteries. Estimated range with lithium batteries is planned to be in range of 150 kilometers. Estimated lifetime for lithium batteries is more than 200.000 kilometers. Build instructions will be made available as open source once the prototype will be finished. First cars should be in production before end of the 2008. You can read more from EV World article.

IBM on liittynyt OpenID Foundation -yhteisön jäseneksi Microsoftin, Yahoon, Verisignin ja Googlen ohella. OpenID on avoin, hajautettu ja ilmainen "framework" käyttäjä identiteetin hallintaan. OpenID Foundation on perustettu tukemaan OpenID teknologian leviämistä. OpenID Site Directory sisältää listan OpenID:tä tukevista www-sivustoista. OpenID.net/get sivustolta löytyy tietoja palveluista joiden käyttäjillä on jo OpenID-tunnus ja myös listan tunnetuista OpenID palveluntarjoajista. OpenID:n etuna on se että et ole sidottu tiettyyn palveluntarjoajaan. Simon Willison blogissa on hyvä screencast OpenID:n käytöstä.

Paul Mooneyn Blogin mukaan ILUG2008 rekisteröinti aukeaa maanantaina. Tapahtuma on Irlannin Lotus-käyttäjäkerhon järjestämä mutta on saavuttanut massiiviset suosion. Viime vuonna tähän kaksi päiväiseen tapahtumaan osallistui 270 henkilöä 22:sta eri maasta ja osallistujia oli jonotuslistalle asti. Tänä vuonna tapahtuma on kasvanut kolme päiväiseksi (4.6. - 6.6) ja osallistuja kapasiteettia on nostettu 450 osallistujaan.

Esiintyjälista sisältää lukuisia Lotuspheressäkin esiintyneitä nimiä:

Järjestyksessään 15. Lotusphere järjestettiin 20 - 24.1 DisneyWorldissä Orlandossa, Floridassa. Lotusphere 2009 järjestetään 18 - 22.1 yllätys, yllätys Orlandossa, Floridassa. IBM on blogitietojen mukaan sitoutunut järjestämään Lotuspheren DisneyWorldissa (Swan & Dolphin) vuoteen 2015 asti. Net Integration Technologies oston myötä syntyi Lotus Foundations. Ensimmäinen rautapohjainen "appliance" tuote Lotukselta. Mielenkiintoista tulee olemaan tuleeko tämä myyntiin IBM Lotus ohjelmistöjälleenmyyjien vai rautajälleenmyyjien kautta. Foundations perustuu Net Integration Technologiesin Nitix -tuotteeseen joka on Linux-pohjainen palvelinkäyttöjärjestelmä.

Rekisteröin blogia varten oman domainin mtimonen.net. Blogin vanha osoite http://leirikoulu.aks.fi/Apps/Blogs.nsf ei ole enää käytössä eikä sieltä ole mitään uudelleenohjausta uuteen osoitteeseen. Blogin pyöri aikaisemmin Domino V8.0 palvelimella mutta pyörii nyt siirron jälkeen ainakin toistaiseksi vanhemman version Domino-palvelimella. Blogi sovellusmalli (template) päivitettiin samalla BlogSphere versioon 3.0.1.

I have been employed by AKS Group in Finland 2.5 years. In August DNS Arrow acquired AKS & Centia Group in Nordics and the UK. End of the year my employer will be changed and AKS Group's business will be transferred to DNS.
